El Chorro is a village near the river Guadalhorce, about one hour from Málaga on the Costa del Sol. It`s possibly one of the most important areas for rock climbing in Spain due to the impressive rock faces.

El Chorro, a hamlet built next to a hydro-electrical dam on the Guadalhorce river about an hour’s drive from Malaga, is possibly Spain’s most significant rock-climbing spot due to the outstanding cliffs on both sides of the gorge that precedes the dam. El Chorro is also a train station; the track impressively passes through a series of tunnels carved straight into the rock. You can hike the gorge through a spectacular trail including parts of the traditional and vertiginous Paseo del Rey (King’s walk), thusly named because the king once passed through here on a visit. Many stretches are now closed because they are deteriorating and extremely dangerous. Nearby are the village of Ardales and the ruins of Bobastro, the Christian cave church built by converted Moorish rebel and local tyrant ibn Hafsun.
